New Rivers Avenue branch opens Dec. 14

Winston Churchill said, “There is nothing wrong with change, if it is in the right direction.” This week, our writers will blog around the subject of change, so I thought I'd kick us off with a much anticipated change here at the credit union: the move into our new headquarters branch.

On Monday, December 14, 2009, the Rivers Avenue branch in North Charleston officially moves from its existing location to the new building that faces four new full-service ATMs along Rivers Avenue. (Please note that the old Rivers branch, drive-up windows and ATMs no longer will be functional after close of business Friday, Dec. 11.  Not to worry; the ATMs facing Rivers Avenue are already up and running!)

The new facility was designed to offer members greater convenience and accessibility. As a preview of the positive changes awaiting members at the new Rivers branch, here’s what you’ll notice:

  • Double-stacked drive-up teller windows, which allow two cars to be served at the same time
  • Teller stations that allow members to stand side-by-side with the tellers and see their transactions on the screen
  • Biometric safe deposit boxes (requiring only a PIN and authorized fingerprints for access!)
  • Coin counters, in-lobby ATMs, or the Online and Phone Banking stations

Anxiety and frustration sometimes accompany change but we think our members will have more pleasant surprises than not at the new Rivers Avenue Branch. To hearken back to the words of Mr. Churchill, this new branch certainly is change "in the right direction." We want your new branch experience to be the best it can be, so what questions do you have in advance?

I'm looking forward to seeing the new branch during my next visit. Change is difficult, but progress is appreciated.

Thanks, Mark! Let us know what you think of the new facility after your first visit.
